Systemise Your Inbox

I saw an interesting insight recently by James Clear (famous for his book Atomic Habits), saying:

“To make progress on productivity, systems are the key because systems enable you to ‘habitualise’ how you do work. When the way you do your work becomes a habit, you move up the experience curve, getting the same work done in less time – and you save time because you don’t have to think about how to do your work.”

This is exactly what the Triage view of the inbox does – it allows you to systematise (or habitualise) the way you manage incoming email. It captures the results of your thinking and decision-making the first time you read an email so that you don’t have to use up precious headspace and memory to keep track of it. As a result, you save time, energy and, most importantly, headspace.

As the year quickly draws to a close, I believe there is at least one of three things you could do over coming weeks.

They are as follows:

1: Tune up

If you have already learnt the Triage process with me, why not register here for a short, sharp refresher session I have scheduled for 29 Nov at 12.30pm AEDT. I’ll help you consolidate your system, troubleshoot any issues you might be having and fine-tune your settings so you can manage the pre-Christmas bottleneck with ease.

2: Lend a hand

You almost certainly know of at least one colleague who is still struggling to mange their email. Why not tell them about your own breakthrough and recommend they join the Triage Your Inbox program to get themselves organised before the end of the year?

3: Upskill

If you haven’t yet experienced the life-changing impact of the Triage process, click here to join the program. You’ll save at least 54 minutes per day (and probably more) and around 15-20% of your headspace. Click here if you want to see what others say about their experience.
